As difficult as it is for those serving overseas in our military, for some it may be even more difficult returning home. In 2019, 284,000 veterans were unemployed and about 240,000 vets reported they were living in poverty. About 40,000 veterans are currently living without shelter. There are now at least 4,333 women Veterans who are homeless. Veterans make up 6% of our population but account for 8% of our homeless population. Advocates lament studies showing that servicewomen returning from the battlefield are the fastest-growing segment of our Veterans homeless population. They say that while male returnees become homeless mostly due to substance abuse and mental illness, female vets face these challenges and more. These include the search for family housing and jobs that can be more difficult for women to find than men. Since 2010, more than 600,000 Veterans and their family members have been permanently housed, rapidly rehoused, or prevented from falling into homelessness through HUD's targeted housing vouchers and VA's homelessness programs.

- I oppose reforming current homeless Veterans policy and wish to donate resources to the campaign committee of Speaker Mike Johnson (LA).
- I support directing the Department of Labor to give homeless veterans with dependents service priority under homeless Veterans reintegration programs, and wish to donate resources to the campaign committee of Rep. Julia Brownley (CA) and/or to an advocate group currently working with this issue.

If elected as a trustee, the campaign committee of Rep. Julia Brownley (CA) will be unconditionally awarded the funds pledged to this issue along with a letter requesting her to favorably consider either reintroducing the Senate version of H.R.240 - Homeless Veterans with Children Reintegration Act (117th Congress 2021-2022), or a similar version thereof.
- National Coalition for Homeless Veterans
If elected as a trustee, National Coalition for Homeless Veterans will be awarded the funds pledged to this issue along with a letter requesting these funds be used to provide and advocate for housing for veterans and their families.
Mission: The National Coalition for Homeless Veterans (NCHV) will end homelessness among veterans by shaping public policy, promoting collaboration, and building the capacity of service providers. NCHV is the leading authority on homeless veterans’ issues and the only national organization solely focused on ending veteran homelessness. We work to achieve our mission by promoting collaboration, shaping policy, building service capacity, ensuring accountability, and managing a referral helpline for veterans experiencing and at-risk of homelessness. We are the resource and technical assistance center for a national network of community-based service providers and local, state, and federal agencies that provide housing, employment services, case management, legal aid, and other supportive services to thousands of veterans experiencing or at-risk of homelessness each year.
